The anti-burglary device can be installed either as part of the window-closing mechanism or separately to provide security for every at-risk window. (Note that a casement closed by the window-closing mechanism could be pulled open from outside ( fitment of the anti-burglary device is therefore strongly recommended to prevent this.)

 

    

Mechanical and electronic security
 

 
 A high level of security with little cost. When the window is closed, either manually or automatically using the ‘Winboy’ mechanism, the latch engages a hook on the window frame to hold the casement in position. The latch is linked to a pressure switch. If excessive force (between 500 and 1000 N / 100 and 200 lb) is applied to the latch, by someone outside trying to force the window open, a shrill alarm will be triggered. The alarm will therefore be given before the window has been forced open.

If the burglar is not deterred by the alarm, he will find that the robust construction of the latch (it is made from high-quality stainless steel) will make the window considerably more difficult than one without the device fitted.

It’s exactly this combination of an alarm and a difficult, time-consuming entry that burglars hate!

The alarm takes so little electricity that a standard 9-volt battery only has to be changed every five to ten years!

The device can be easily installed using the wood screws supplied.

Larger windows can be protected using two or more security devices if required.

If the anti-burglary device is not required, it can be simply ‘made safe’ using the insert provided.
